Bridger-Teton Plans Service Day to Celebrate Public Lands

Jackson, Wyo. – Federal land management agencies throughout the nation plan to host a variety of volunteer projects in observance of National Public Lands Day, September 24, 2011. As part of this year’s celebration, volunteers are encouraged to participate in the Bridger-Teton National Forest’s event in Jackson, Wyoming.

Volunteers are invited to meet at the Supervisor’s Office at 340 North Cache Street at 9:00a.m. on Saturday the 24th. From there, participants will go to the Gros Ventre Geological Interpretive Trail to participate in trail restoration projects around the site.

“The project will commence whether it rains or shines,” said project coordinator Linda Merigliano.  Volunteers should come wearing sturdy work boots, work gloves, and with plenty of water and a lunch.  “This is a unique geological area and a very popular interpretive trail,” said Merigliano.  “Volunteers will be giving it a complete face lift,” she said.  All of the tools necessary for the day’s work will be provided. Anyone interested in volunteering should register with Merigliano by calling 307-739-5428.  To read more about this particular service project or to  learn about other National Public Lands Day opportunities, see the National Public Lands Day website at www.publiclandsday.org/npld-sites .
