Redmond Street: Success!

Comment on this Post

Monday, February 14th, the Jackson Town Council unanimously voted for the Redmond Street reconstruction project proposed by Town staff and advocated by Friends of Pathways.  Town and County residents voted for this (SPET) project, and we at FOP are excited to see this money getting spent and jobs being created.

This project is precedent-setting, and we thank the Town for accommodating all modes of traffic, including pedestrians and cyclists.  Basics of the redesign include the following:

  • Travel lanes narrowed to 11 feet.
  • 10 foot pedestrian spaces on each side of the street (5' furniture zone + 5' detached sidewalk - see picture below)
  • Parking on the east side of the street only
  • Signage - including "sharrows" and other treatments that alert users to "share the road"

If you have the time, please thank your Town Council and Town Staff: Brian Schilling, Shawn O'Malley, Tyler Sinclair, and Bob McLaurin.

If you have any questions or comments on the project please contact us
