Friends of Pathways is proud to announce Bike Week 2010 during the week of June 14th. Old classics as well as new events are sure to be a hit with all members of the family. "We're excited to continue the tradition of Bike Week to encourage residents and visitors alike to bring out the bikes and join us for great events all week long", stated Tim Young, Executive Director.
This year, Friends of Pathways is excited to bring local legends Jay and Tracey Petervery to the Center for the Arts Center Theater on Wednesday, June 16th. Come see these history makers as they share stories and a slide show of 2 of the biggest cycling feats. Pedaling 3,000 miles along the Continental Divide on a tandem, and 1,100 miles through the sub-zero temperatures of Alaska along the Iditarod trail on snowbikes.
Discussions will include the progression one goes through to compete in such adventures, training on the tandem and snowbike, gear needed to survive, nutrition and how it differs from short races or person to person, working as a team and the importance of communication.
Business sponsors for Bike Week include Hoback Sports, Pearl Street Bagels, Fitzgerald's Bicycles, Wilson Backcountry Sports, The Whole Grocer, Teton Thai, and of course, Snake River Brewery.
