Wanted! Volunteer Ambassadors

Comment on this Post

Ambassadors Solicitation

Do you regularly walk, roll, ride or otherwise travel certain sections of pathways as part of a daily commute or for recreation and enjoyment?  Have you been thinking you'd like to 'give back' in some way, but don't think you have the time?  This may be your opportunity to combine both!

This year, Friends of Pathways and Jackson Hole Community Pathways are implementing a ‘Volunteer Ambassador’ program.  We are seeking committed pathways users who would be willing to monitor their home 'sections' as they use the pathways.  We hope to supplement the efforts of Teton County and the Town of Jackson by assisting FoP’s Stewardship Director and Stewardship Ambassador in supervising all pathways with routine patrols by bike and foot.

Ambassadors would be responsible for ‘patrolling’ their section - basically, keeping an eye out for any safety issues, identifying minor maintenance needs, and assist in anticipating upcoming capital maintenance needs.  Ambassadors will regularly report their observations to the Stewardship Director.  Ambassadors would also be able to help with light maintenance and occasional volunteer educational and outreach programs, though these will not be requirements for participation.

This is simply the first step to gauge interest in the program - we will provide more details about what is expected, a list of the specific sections of pathways, and a short 'training session'.  We will likely only need one or two ambassadors per section - for this reason, we may have to limit the positions available.

Should you have an interest in volunteering for this program, or know someone who might be interested, please contact Mike Welch, Stewardship Director, for more details.  You can also call Mike at 733-4534.
