National Trails Day was very successful despite the inclement weather. Friends of Pathways set up the tent early at Cache Creek Trailhead and treated a good hearty group of about 20 volunteers and trail crew to bagels and coffee.

Erik Jacobson, FS/FOP Trails Coordinator had laid out the re-route in advance, and he gave all the volunteers a safety talk and tool of their choice. The entire Teton District Trail Crew showed up, so we had serious trail horsepower shoulder to shoulder with volunteers. The plan was a reroute of a section of Putt-Put below Woods Canyon which was washed out in the bottom of a gully and unsustainable.
Very successful dig day, the entire new trail section was cut in and benched out, really turned out well. Big thanks to Forest Service folks Linda Merigliano, Tim Farris and to the Teton Trail Crew for the FS help and bringing all the tools. The Erik's team will return next week to polish it up and start to reclaim the old trail.
National Trails Day is a long tradition for the Forest Service and Friends of Pathways. This latest section of sustainable trail builds on an incredibly successful partnership that has transformed close to home trails on Snow King and Teton Pass.
