Bridger-Teton Temporarily Closes Cache Creek Trail

Jackson, Wyo. - The Jackson Ranger District of the Bridger-Teton National Forest will temporarily close the Cache Creek trailhead in Jackson, Wyoming. The closure will begin Monday, October 26 and reopen Thursday October 29, 2009. The trail is closed as the Bridger-Teton conducts a watershed improvement project. Visitors may still access the Cache Creek drainage by utilizing the Sidewalk Trail or the Hagen Trail.

The purpose of this project is to improve the drainage on the tread of the main trail, which will have positive benefits in the watershed. The Forest will be conducting some grading and spot gravel work on the lower portion of trail up to Bar T 5 site. Culverts are also scheduled to be installed next spring.

The work done on this portion of the Cache Creek trail will reduce muddiness of the trail and will reduce adverse impacts to Cache Creek. There will be some equipment staged in the parking area near the trailhead throughout the project. Workers will also improve the inside ditch along the Cache Creek trail as part of the drainage improvement. This project is being funded through special road and trail improvement dollars set aside by the Forest. For more information on the project, call the Bridger-Teton at 307-739-5500
