Trail Report GSKA-TPA

June 10, 2011

As the weekend approaches I will list out what trails are open and try to give so recommendations.

GSKA-

Trails Open;

Cache Creek Sidewalk, Hagen, Putt-Putt, Sink or Swim, Josie’s, Linda’s, KC, Hagen River Trail, Game Creek, Snow King Summit Trail.

Others;

Cache Creek Trail is a mess past Bridge 4 (end of Hagen and Putt-Putt) clear to the Game Creek junction.

West Game is covered with snow 2/3 the way up with 3 two foot mandatory fords. 

Ferrins-closed by snow half way up, the lower section is fine to ride as an out and back.

Wilson-should be close to opening to meadows by weekend.

TPA-

Trails Open-

Crater Trail is the only trail that is completely open and it still has a few patches of snow.

Others;

All trails listed are from the bottom of the pass.

History open to Crater Junction, with patches of snow.

Blacks open to Big Rocks then deep in snow.

Old Pass Road-Open until Crater Lake, then snow covered with trees down.

Parallel Trail (DHMTB, downhill MTB only), open from near top, contact TFR for info.

Phillips Canyon-Open until the North Fork (1/3 the way up), then fords and deep snow stop progress

Ridge and BPA road-This is opening quickly from bottom, should be open to Shock Treatment by weekend.

Munger-

Just a quick note, the lower Munger Trails are reported to be open, motors come on this system on July 1.

Notes;

Trail crews are seeing a record amount of carcasses and bear tracks, carry bear spray and pay attention.

Bridges and trails right now are fragile, the water is still a ways away from peaking.  B e prepared to deal with snow, water and mud.

Please walk around wet sections, it is easy to do.

FOP/USFS Trail Crews have been working hard to improve drainage and keep your trails as dry as possible.  They are good people who like cookies.

Game Creek is closed to motors.
